Advocates must explain why they should not be barred

President Jacob Zuma has given notice of his intention to suspend two senior prosecutors, deputy national director of public prosecutions Nomgcobo Jiba and head of the specialised commercial crimes unit Lawrence Mrwebi from office, pending an enquiry into their fitness to hold office. The president’s decision follows a judgment of the High Court in Pretoria, which ordered that the names of the two advocates be removed from the roll of advocates.
